We are looking for an Engineering Manager to build and manage the team
that will be responsible for the development of the Train distribution
product on the BlaBlaCar platform. Your role will be to manage a team
of engineers to achieve BBC ambitious development goals in the Train
distribution business. You’ll be responsible for the delivery and
maintenance of the product enabling BBC members to book seats on
various Train operators in Europe.
The challenge of the job is to define the best organization and
operational mode for the Train supply team that will have to interact
with many internal and external teams. The team will have to deliver
solid and scalable tech foundations for sales of Train tickets.
This mission is key for the success of the BlaBlaCar Marketplace
extension which is a pillar of the company strategy.
TO GET A GRASP OF YOUR FIRST 6 MONTHS
* Staff a team of 5 engineers
* Define the technical architecture of the Train product and initiate
the implementation
* Organize effective team work (processes, tools, roles and
responsibilities) managing the context and the constraints of the
implementation
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
* Organize, recruit, inspire, and grow a team of best in class
engineers (5+ individual contributors) in Train Distribution.
* Drives technical strategy of the train product and is fully
accountable for defining the optimal architecture of the back-end
solution that will support Train distribution.
* Supervise the development of the solutions designed by your team,
ensuring performance, stability and long term scalability
* Facilitate and coordinate cross-platform effort between the Train
supply team and other engineering teams working on the platform,
making sure the team delivers product requirements in regard to time,
quality and business constraints.
* Collaborate with technical teams of our Train supply partners in
the most efficient way, managing differences of culture and working
methodologies.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
* You have an experience as an engineering manager for at least 5
years with proven people management skills
* You have ideally worked on Train distribution projects or you know
at least the main concepts and challenges of this domain.
* You have excellent experience in managing development processes for
Scrum, Kanban and experience in using Jira, Confluence tools
* Experience in building solutions based on a Java Technology stack
* You have excellent communication skills, you’re humble, and you
enjoy sharing & learning from others
* You embrace change, are able to take a step back, prioritize, and
focus on added-value tasks
* You have a results-driven and impact-oriented mindset
* Fluency in English, and French
