Description du poste
Reporting to our Chief Data Officer, the role of our department is to
build new products based on the latest advances in Machine Learning &
Deep Learning research. We strive to read research papers and are not
afraid to implement new algorithms when source code is not readily
available. But above all, our motto is to never stop at the
prototyping phase: our mission is to turn these new models into
scalable, production-grade online services.
In that context, we’re looking for MACHINE LEARNING ENGINEER INTERN
to join us on one of our applied research projects in Computer Vision
for 6 months starting April 2022.
The goal of the internship will be to
* Carry out a COMPREHENSIVE LITERATURE REVIEW on our topic of
interest, focusing on the most recent papers.
* TRANSLATE RESEARCH PAPERS INTO OPERATIONAL CODE, reusing
open-source repositories or implementing from scratch.
* TEST THESE PAPERS ON UBISOFT GAMING DATASETS, bridging the gap
between clean academic datasets and messy real-life data.
* Help us turn these papers into a REAL-LIFE APPLICATION TO BE USED
BY OUR PLAYERS.
Qualifications
The key traits needed for this role are:
* Solid knowledge of Deep Learning. Basic training in Computer Vision
and understanding of the key research papers in the field from the
past 5 years would be a big plus.
* Knowledge of standard Deep Learning frameworks – most of our
current work relies on PyTorch – to carry out your experiments.
* Very strong programming skills – Python of course, but experience
with a lower-level language would be a big plus since most of our
systems run in Rust – and a keen passion for coding.
* A “try hard, fail fast” mindset: Research is evolving fast, and
no one can know all the subfields of Machine Learning by heart. But we
are never afraid to throw a punch at a new paper or an open-source
repository with messy code, and so shouldn’t you be.
* Strong autonomy.
* Strong communication skills (English mandatory as our team is
international).
