JOB DESCRIPTION:
An exciting opportunity for a Retrofit Solutions System Design Manager
has arisen within Airbus Commercial Aircraft in Toulouse. You will
join the Retrofit Solutions Department within the Hydromechanical
Systems Technical Team (SIMYA4). Providing Upgrade Retrofit Solutions
(Service Bulletins) to our customers.
As a Systems Design Manager, the jobholder is responsible for
completing Service Bulletins (SB) & Kit projects related to Hydro and
Mechanics Systems Upgrade from the preparation of the Technical Offer
(TO) through execution development, its certification up to embodiment
on first aircraft.
The job holder will also have Project Management responsibilities
involving:
•Setting and committing to SB/Kit contractual delivery dates and
associated costs in order to feed commercial & accounting units,
including for contract negotiation & build up (Retrofit Modification
Order – Letter Agreement).
•Reserving industrial capacity as well as internal resources.
•Leading and coordinating operational teams and guaranteeing the
“Quality” and “On time delivery” of the project deliverables.
The jobholder will also be in charge of “Innovation”, involving:
•Identifying, developing or lobbying new retrofit solutions within
Airbus departments and Vendors to improve Airbus turnover and
profitability.
•Participating in business case studies and evaluating their
potential in-service size.
•Developing, industrializing and maintaining subjects of interest
within the E-Catalogue.
As a “Compliance Verification Engineer” (CVE) according to the
Design Organization Manual (DOM), he/she will be responsible for
certifying that the design is in compliance with the applicable
airworthiness requirements on behalf of the Airbus Product Integrity
organization (EIA).
Task & accountabilities :
Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
DESIGN MANAGER:
*Defining accurate and adequate retrofit technical definitions with
the associated Airbus costs,
*Estimating and ensuring industrial capacity in order to master and
minimize the Airbus risks for “known” and “close to known”
subjects,
*Managing this Technical Definition for new subjects through Centers
of Competence / Centers of Excellence,
*Minimizing the lead-time of the “Offer phase” by providing a TO
on time, which integrates the need to obtain various data from various
departments in order to estimate the development costs for
Engineering, SBs and kits production, while committing with the Key
Account Manager (KAM) after an iterative and consensual dialog around
customer expectation, constraints and production capacity,
*While providing visibility to involved projects members, managing and
keeping his/her project within the predefined budget and within the
contractual time frame, despite work-sharing among other departments
and the various industrial constraints,
*Defining project milestones and remaining highly responsive for last
minute actions related to any technical, safety or certification
issue, in order to protect the schedule agreed with the customers,
*Giving specific attention to Kits long lead time manufacture and
anticipation,
*Creating new adaptation modifications and managing the development of
technical solutions, keeping in mind the ease of embodiment and cost
effectiveness, as well as operational safety requirements,
*Providing or managing technical support for technical queries,
negotiations with customers and the embodiment of the modification on
the customer Aircraft,
*Providing Stand-By service during days off.
INNOVATION RESPONSIBLE:
*While ensuring his/her engineering network, maintaining his/her best
level of competence in order to permanently develop a profitable SLUDA
portfolio with new and up to date retrofit solutions that meet market
needs and customer expectations, in term of availability, return on
investment and ease of embodiment,
*Interfacing with SL marketing department on the definition and
deployment of the marketing strategy (identifying fleet size,
technical arguments, etc.) in order to facilitate the sales of upgrade
solutions,
*Managing the introduction of the new upgrade solution into the
E-Catalogue whenever applicable,
*Ensuring the completeness and accuracy of technical solutions and
coordinating other DMs accordingly whenever necessary.
COMPLIANCE VERIFICATION ENGINEER:
*Ensuring certification objectives by determining & providing means of
compliance against regulations,
*Attesting on behalf of Airbus product integrity organization that the
solution definition meets airworthiness requirements, at Modification
& SB level.
This role will involve some travel for business worldwide and as such
you must be able to travel accordingly.
Required skills :
You will have the following skills and experience:
-With a five-year degree in Engineering or equivalent,
-Experience in Customer Support/ Design Office,
-Experience/knowledge in Configuration Management,
-Experience in interacting with subcontractors,
-Experience in CVE will be a plus,
-Excellent communication skills,
-Team player,
-Language skills: English Negotiation Level.
This position has been graded PII or IIIA.
