Lead Mechanical Engineer team leader in charge of the braking system

France POSITION DESCRIPTION WE ARE: We are part of the European Medium Duty Business Unit in Lyon, dedicated and responsible for product strategy, product development, production, and service preparations. We work on Volvo Trucks and Renault Trucks medium duty ranges including diesel, gas, and electric versions, produced in Europe for European and international markets. OUR MISSION: The main mission for the “Chassis” team is to manage all products evolutions. The “Chassis” scope is rather wide: Chassis structure, Equipment and Transport Adaptation, Powertrain Installation, Suspension Axle and Steering, Braking System and Vehicle Control System. We are looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer within the “Chassis” Engineering team. YOU ARE: You are a key resource in the “Chassis” group, supported by mechanical engineers, inside and outside your team. You will lead the developments and be responsible for a specific technical area: pneumatic system for brakes and suspension control, brakes, wheels, and hubs. You will dig into major product changes, smaller product modifications, or integrations in new vehicle environments. You may have to lead as well minor product evolutions outside your main technical area. Your agility and adaptability will be a key value in an evolving Business Unit and dealing with new technologies. You will also manage delegations to others support sites or consultants when needed to help you to deliver in the right time. You will work in close cooperation with a variety of stakeholders and solution providers inside our Business Unit, as well as partners such as Group Truck Technology engineering teams, Group Truck Purchasing, or suppliers. You will contribute to define the product roadmap within your technical area, to support the company strategic directions. You are keen on challenging and sustainably improving your technical scope, to answer to the new market demands, and the major transformations upcoming within the commercial transport market. Your main competences for this job will be your mechanical and engineering knowledges, communication, and leadership skills. You have a recent and successful experience in Engineering. YOUR QUALIFICATION AND PROFILE? * Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent * Demonstrated effective Engineering leadership skills * Curiosity for scientific domains linked to mechanics * Collaborates * Cross-functional management * Working in a large and global company, using APQP processes. * Synthesis mind and rigor * Openness to change * Proven communication skills, verbally and in writing * Fluent in English and French * Business Insight * Self-development * 15 years experienced in technical environments and 5 years in vehicle braking systems.
