JOB OVERVIEW AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Polymerization Scientist is responsible for leading research and
innovation projects that support
product development for Solvay Specialty Polymers for high growth
markets. Position
accountabilities are:
* Designing performance into materials by understanding customer
needs and translating
these requirements into product attributes.
* Demonstrating strong technical depth in the area of radical
polymerization and
of material science to ensure the product development activities are
technically
rigorous.
* Demonstrating Project Management skills in leading innovation
projects.
* Leading or assisting in the scale-up of new polymerization recipes
from research to
commercial scale working in close collaboration with Process
Technology and Manufacturing
Functions.
* Working with Sales/Marketing/Customer Technical Development,
Customers, and Suppliers
to commercialize new products.
* Providing technical support to on-going plant operations. Assisting
in the review and
monitoring of patent/scientific literature relevant to our
products/technology
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
* Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry and specifically in Radical
Polymerization preferably in despersed media or related fields.
Additional background in Materials Science is a plus.
* Experience in the development of polymers for flexible packaging
applications is a plus.
* 0-3 years experience

* Technical depth in the fields of radical polymerization and
material science
* Passion for Science, Creativity, open mindedness
* Problem-solving skills with high focus on the final achievement
* Leadership, autonomy and organizational skills
* Ability to work in a team environment and cross functional groups
* Fluent French and English, written and spoken
