ROLE PURPOSE :
Management of Underwriting Operations for Emea Accident & Health,
including but not limited to: Audit Management, Underwriting Authority
Support, Reinsurance Support, Terms & Conditions Standardization,
Underwriting Project Management and Support.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
AUDIT MANAGEMENT / PEER REVIEW / PORTFOLIO REVIEWS:
Supports the Underwriting Audit process in coordination with IAH
Provide trend analysis by country
Facilitate audit activity with Chubb Internal Audit
Enforce audit training programs, documents, and webinars
Participate in several audits annually
Manage the peer review process and quarterly reporting
Manage the tracking of audit action items and portfolio review action
items through completion
Authority & Underwriting Governance Management
Support the Emea underwriting authorities and annual delegation and
attestation processes
Support the communication of the IAH Policies, Procedures and UW
Bulletins
Support development and communication of Underwriting Governance
training material
Project Management and Underwriting Support
Provide UW support for continuous improvement of key business
development tools, solutioning playbooks and opportunity assessment
models
Co-ordination and management of ad-hoc underwriting projects where
needed
Provide technical underwriting support as needed including assisting
with underwriting referrals
Actively participate in and support management of Quarterly Account
Management, Portfolio Management and performance monitoring of key
accounts and Special Acceptance accounts
Reinsurance and Cat Management
Act as subject matter expert resource on reinsurance treaties and
processes & procedures
Support facilitation of reinsurance activities and initiatives working
with reinsurance, accounting, finance, claims, legal, and regional
offices
Assist with treaty reinsurance renewals, approval submissions,
quarterly tracking and exposure monitoring as needed
Support the catastrophe modeling process including exposure tracking
of black swan cat events
Coordinate with actuarial, CAT modeling team, and A&H underwriting for
A&H Dot Cat modeling to achieve best possible reinsurance terms
Terms & Conditions Development, Rationalization and Standardization
DEVELOPMENT: create Terms & Conditions standards, support manuscript
wording supporting Partners and Business Development
RATIONALISATION: reducing the number of policy wordings available to
the underwriters for future use. This include every
Chubb/Brokers/Other Carriers Standard Wordings that are eligible to
the Shared Point since they are multi-usage to be opposed to
manuscript
STANDARDISATION: switching as many contracts as possible to standard
wordings, create and manage a library of coverages and products
Manage central repositories of products and policy wordings (WASP)
Collaborate with a broad range of international colleagues in areas
including legal, compliance, conduct risk, business development,
marketing, Digital/IT, product development, actuarial, underwriting,
finance, and operations
Qualifications
KEY PROFILE REQUIREMENTS :
Technical knowledge of Accident & Health insurance and related
products is critical
Ability to assess risk hazards and exposures and to determine
appropriate rates individual risks; knowledge & understanding of
policy wordings
Financial analysis abilities and understanding of the exposures
landscape are required
Ability to cogently summarise an opportunity/issue in a robust,
self-checking, numerical analysis.
PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT: Ability to manage, monitor & control
underwriting results on a portfolio & producer basis.
Reinsurance knowledge is preferable
Knowledge of competitors active within territory & broker distribution
channels.
Able to apply & develop client management strategies. Strong
relationships with large and independent brokers/partners/clients, in
territory.
Strong organisational skills.
Aptitude for “out-of-box / creative thinking / Vision.
Good knowledge of English; written and spoken is a must
