R&D Scientist

R&D SCIENTIST F/M/X Location: Vergèze (near Montpellier) Contract: Permanent The R&D center for new upcycling solutions of Royal Canin Vergeze is an infrastructure that is part of Mars Pet Care. Its mission is to support R&D programs related to the sustainable management of our waste answering our ambition to be carbon neutral. The R&D center is playing a role as a model to fulfill this ambition. In that context we are working on a new innovative project the Scientist will be leading. The role of the Junior Scientist is to Design and implement experimental protocols aiming at multi-criteria objectives (Biological, Microbiological and Technological). The role is in interaction with potential partners (CNRS, INRA), key opinion leaders in the field of bio conversion of organic waste externally and R&D, Corporate, Kennel, Pilot Plant, Factory teams internally. WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR? * PhD or at least 5 years experienced MSc in the related fields (Biology, Microbiology) * At least 3 years experienced Engineer, experience in an industrial environment is a plus * Understands modelization * French & English is fluent * Autonomous * Proactive and innovative WHAT WOULD BE YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES? * Under the supervision of a Senior Scientist, to screen potential solutions, build and manage approved research projects within the upcycling research program; * Being responsible for the full execution of experimental protocols generation and follow up using processes in place within the project team aiming art multi-criteria objectives: 1) Biological: zootechnical performance and quality of the finished product 2) Microbiological: measuring, modelling and maximization of carbon and nitrogen sequestration 3) Technological: transposability to a given scale 4) Human: Optimization of the ergonomics and fluidity of tasks. * He/she/they will be responsible for the proper functioning of the R&D site in Vergeze The Scientist will also take an active part in the Development of collaborations with public research organizations / universities / private companies / associations * To communicate relevant scientific/technological findings to key business and external audiences through written works and oral presentation.
