Description
Job Description: We are looking for a Junior Telecom Engineer (m/f) to
join the “Telecom System support and Advanced Applications” team
at AIRBUS DEFENCE & SPACE based in TOULOUSE. This team defines and
characterizes end-to-end satellite systems (encompassing ground, space
and user segments) and their compliance with the expected or specified
requirements. You will join this team to carry out system analyses for
future and for “under development” telecom satellites. These
analyses may be done in the frame of institutional studies (e.g. for
ESA, European Commission or National Space Agencies), or for
commercial customers. As part of in-the-job training, you may also
spend some periods within payload, antenna or ground segment teams to
acquire knowledge and expertise on end-to-end design and performances.
_ Main missions_ The tasks will include: * Contribution to the
definition of future satellite telecommunication systems in concurrent
engineering with antenna, payload and satellite teams * Assessment of
system performances (capacity, availability, typical link budgets,
compliance to traffic demand profile, sensibility analyses,…) with
the guidance of an experienced expert * Proposal of solutions to
technical tradeoffs in compliance with end-to-end system requirements
(coverage, services, connectivity, frequency bands, …), benchmarking
them against existing systems to contribute to progress in the field *
Definition and run of simulations using either in-house developed or
commercial tools (Matlab, STK, NS2, …) to characterize the system
according to customer demand * Interface with the engineering
department in charge of tools development and maintenance (including
definition and specification of the new required functions to be
implemented, you could also prepare the evolution of the tools in
cooperation with the engineering teams) * You may also interface with
customers during to get a better understanding of requirements, and
have the opportunity to present and justify the achieved results. The
type of satellite projects for which such Telecom System support is
requested can be any type of telecom systems, GEO, but also on Lower
Orbit. To perform your mission, you will get the support of the
telecom experts within the Telecom Satellite Systems Projects group
and of the simulation & optimization team. You will also have to
interface with the project team members and more particularly with the
payload, antenna and satellite engineers, and with the ground segment
team. Depending on projects and proposals, some business trips may be
required (typ. 1 or 2 days for instance in customer premises). _
Technical skills required_ * Masters degree of Engineering in Radio
Communications Systems and/or Telecommunications, Networks * Knowledge
on System simulation & associated tools (Matlab...) * Experience in
programming using different languages such as Python, C and Shell. *
Autonomy * Flexibility and ability to work in multi-national teams *
Good reporting skills (both technical and work progress) Especially *
Team player * Sharing the values of transparency, courage, humility,
empathy * Willing to have fun * Advanced level of English (written and
