Description
YOUR ROLE IN HELPING US SHAPE THE FUTURE: You will be independently
responsible for satellite system design, integration, validation and
testing of satellite Bus Mechanical subsystems on Intelsat’s
Software Defined Satellites (SDS). The SDS are the next generation
communications satellites to be procured by Intelsat and you will be
located at the satellite manufacturer’s facility, representing
Intelsat and overseeing the manufacturer’s activities. Your Bus
Mechanical responsibilities will include Structures (including static
and dynamic load test where applicable), Mechanisms (appendage
deployment and pointing, wheels, actuators, drive assemblies),
Propulsion (chemical and electric), Thermal Control (including heat
pipes, heaters, blankets, radiators), and mechanical aspects of
qualification (shock, vibration, thermal and thermal-vacuum cycling).
A secondary responsibility will be overseeing the interface with
Intelsat’s launch vehicle service providers such as Arianespace,
SpaceX, Blue Origin, ILS, ULA and others. This will include launch
vehicle integration, ICD development, dynamic and acoustic test, and
launch campaign planning & execution. You will report directly to the
Site Manager of the Intelsat SDS program office. ARE YOU UP TO THE
CHALLENGE? * Conduct all tasks related to the bus mechanical aspects
of Intelsat spacecraft procurement activities at all phases of the
programs under supervision by Intelsat's SDS program office. * Provide
assessment of the spacecraft bus mechanical subsystems design and
evaluate the adequacy of the hardware and firmware to satisfy the
contracts requirements. * Manage the interface with Intelsat’s
launch vehicle service providers and lead activities at the launch
site during Intelsat’s launch campaigns. * Provide a continuous
assessment of the mechanical subsystems performance and performance
budget as a result of design changes, development, manufacturing and
test. * Work in close cooperation with the spacecraft program manager
to ensure the performance of the mechanical subsystems is compatible
with other S/C subsystems. * Evaluate bus mechanical test programs at
the subsystem and system levels to ensure that these test programs
adequately test the performance of the spacecraft's hardware and
firmware over the applicable range of environment. * Witness
spacecraft integration and test activities and participate in test
data review. * Review the spacecraft operational and contingency
procedures for technical accuracy, prior to their delivery to HQ for
launch rehearsals. * Support spacecraft mission operations and
in-orbit operations, including in-orbit anomaly investigations. *
Coordinate technical support from other Intelsat groups as required
for performing the primary function of the position. * Coordinate
relevant bus mechanical technical interface with other organizational
entities of Intelsat and applicable external customers. YOU SHOULD
DEFINITELY HAVE: * A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field of study,
with at least ten years of direct experience with spacecraft system
design, testing and launch vehicle integration. * The ability to work
independently as part of a field office involved with continuous
interface with customers, contractors and subcontractors. * Top notch
customer service skills, including the ability to respond to customer
questions and requests in a timely manner and the ability to stay cool
under pressure when investigating possible spacecraft anomalies. *
Expert-level knowledge of spacecraft system design, hardware,
firmware, programs and testing modules. * Excellent verbal and written
command of the English language. IT WOULD BE NICE IF YOU HAD: *
Experience with management of personnel reporting directly to you . *
Technical experience in satellite bus electrical subsystems or
satellite payloads.
