You probably think that working for an online travel agency that
manages hundreds of millions of bookings per year or working for an
airline that operates hundreds of thousands of flights per year must
bring their fair chair of challenge. If so, just try to realize the
scalability, the performance, the resiliency, the geographical
distribution challenges that are behind the system that powers 150
airlines, hundreds of websites, tens of airports, thousands of hotel
properties. Just one fact to illustrate: In peak times, we process
more than 17,000 transactions per second (1 billion+ transactions per
day) at an average system response time of less than 0.3 seconds
The data platform, insights and analytics team aims at providing all
Amadeus Business Units with a cloud native data platform and solutions
on top of it.
Data driven engineering is touching all segments of our business and
is at the heart of Amadeus strategy moving towards an open product
approach. This is opening plenty of new challenges ahead such as
Complex Event processing, Studio and serviceability, real time
analytics, and use of machine learning model at run-time
Summary of the role
Our group is in charge of designing and implementing a cloud-based
data platform that will serve data analytics products and machine
learning applications for Amadeus customers (airlines, airports,
hotels, agencies, corporations, …) and operates in Scaled Agile
Framework (aka SAFe). The team designs and operates the Azure data
platform managing technology qualification, network design and
configuration, platform and applications security, platform
blueprinting and automation, azure resources provisioning and
deployment orchestration with native azure services.
Your main responsibilities
As tech lead, you will take the lead of technical studies of our data
platform evolutions and contribute to the execution and implementation
phases. This is encompassing those main responsibilities:

Define and drive the platform architecture, the network, the landing
zone and the management group designs with the platform engineering
teams
*
Support the implementation of our platform CI/CD, the orchestration of
the deployment of the different components (Databricks, Azure Data
Lake, Azure ML, Kafka, Airflow, etc…)
*
Support the security assessments, the implementation of security
hardening and the setup of proper security policies
*
Support the technology qualification of the new managed services
integrated in the platform
*
Participate and support migrations across the different environments
(on-premises, Azure, …) and phases.
*
Provide customer support during the onboarding and implementation
steps and gather feedbacks to enhance the user experience.
*
Help define the operational model, the training material and
everything that can ease the platform adoption

About the ideal candidate
An ideal candidate would have:
*
3 years’ experience in distributed Big Data and/or cloud
environments, data management and/or processing
*
Strong knowledge of Linux (Debian, CentOS, RHEL) and Windows
environments
*
Strong knowledge of configuration management tools and release
automation tools.
*
Language: Python, Bash…, Scripting: Shell, PowerShell, …
*
Keen on learning new technologies; is making proactive technology
watch
*
Self-starter and team player, ability to work independently, drive
initiatives and grow team members
*
Rigorous problem-solving skills
A perfect candidate has ideally as well:
* Experience in cloud technologies, such as:
*
Experience in creating reusable cloud blueprints and best practices
(Azure certifications a plus)
*
Cloud services (Databricks, Serverless, Storage and other processing
engines) or other SaaS solutions (Snowflake)
*
Cloud infrastructure and resource organization concepts, and resource
blueprinting and deployment services is a plus
*
Cloud Operating Models
* Worked as a DevOps or SRE in large organizations or projects.
* Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe);
