OFFRE DE STAGE 2022
INGENIEUR MECANIQUE DES SOLIDES
ANSYS FRANCE
GOALS
Gear contact dynamics is a difficult physics to simulate. The
complexity of the contact points detection and their evolution is the
main reason. Contact detection is highly driven by an accurate
representation of the gear geometry. For instance: micro-geometric
tooth profile modification is usually introduced in gears. This
profile modification improves the vibroacoustic performances, but this
type of mechanism requires a very refined finite element mesh in the
contact area to describe preciselythe geometry. The numerical
simulation of such systems becomes demanding. To overcome these
limitations and reduce the number of degrees of freedom, model order
reduction techniques must be used.
The objective of the internship is to test reduced order models of
gears (Component Modes Synthesis, Proper Orthogonal Decomposition,
Krylov subspace) for solving the gear dynamics in the Ansys multibody
solver. The intern will be in charge of assessing and evaluating the
model order reduction method (time consuming, precision) to perform
transient simulations.
