TEAM DESCRIPTION The Artificial Intelligence Research team does applied and exploratory research to enable new applications and improve current products throughout Amadeus. This research is usually promoted by publishing in top journals and conferences. DURING THIS EXPERIENCE Quantum computing harnesses the rules of quantum mechanics, such as superposition, interference, and entanglement, to represent and process information. Although it can be straightforwardly used to simulate quantum systems, like the chemical bonds in a molecule, finding the bridge between quantum computing and classical problems, like searching a database or factoring an integer, can be much more subtle. Quantum computing can offer a significant speed-up over classical computing for some problems, and sometimes this speed-up can be exponential, which is referred to as quantum supremacy. Recent research showed that some machine learning problems, like clustering, regression or classification, can be solved with quantum computing, benefiting from the intrinsic parallelism and probabilistic behaviour of quantum mechanics. The first stage of the internship consists of exploring existing platforms and frameworks that can be used for quantum programming, in parallel with a literature review about quantum computing and its applications. The second stage will be to identify data science or optimization problems relevant for Amadeus business that could benefit from quantum computing and to design and implement prototype solutions using some framework. The intern will participate in the writing of a technical paper if a novel application is identified and/or the solution contains novel elements. * The list of activities is not exhaustive and may vary according to the department and the team THE IDEAL CANDIDATE Is pursuing Bachelor/Master’s degree studies in Computer Science, or related technical field and has a good level of proficiency in ENGLISH.
