REGULATORY AFFAIRS DIRECTOR F/M/X
Location: Aimargues (30 minutes from Montpellier)
Contract: permanent contract
REGULATORY AFFAIRS IS AN INNOVATION ENABLER AT ROYAL CANIN. THROUGH A
CLEAR ANTICIPATION AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE REGULATORY ENVIRONMENT
ACROSS MULTIPLE MARKETS IN WHICH ROYAL CANIN OPERATE, REGULATORY
AFFAIRS GUIDE THE BUSINESS TO DEVELOP, MOVE, AND SELL PRODUCTS AND
SERVICES THAT MEETS THE SPECIFIC NEEDS OF CATS AND DOGS IN CRITICAL
MOMENTS IN FULL COMPLIANCE WITH EXISTING REGULATION, SUSTAINING OUR
FREEDOM TO OPERATE AND GROW. THE FUNCTION CONTRIBUTES TO OUR
PHILOSOPHY OF CATS & DOGS FIRST AND HAS A CRUCIAL ROLE IN HELPING THE
COMPANY TO BE THE REFERENCE IN HEALTH THROUGH NUTRITION. THE FUNCTION
ALSO ADVOCATES FOR A REGULATORY FRAMEWORK THAT ALLOWS ROYAL CANIN TO
OPERATE AND TO DELIVER ITS MISSION OF MAKING A BETTER WORLD FOR PETS.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Proactively manage current and future regulatory environment on
regulation framework, product compliance, and international trade
(barriers and opportunities).
* Drive company’s thought leadership by engaging with critical
stakeholders in the regulatory, environmental, animal welfare spheres.
* Drive internal governance on product change management related to
compliance
* Represent Regulatory Affairs on the Supply & Operations Plan (S&OP)
forums (PMR, SMR)
* Represent Regulatory Affairs in the global Technical Leadership
Team (Supply Chain, R&D, VCO)
* Represents Royal Canin in international forums and global petfood
Trade Associations (e.g. GAPFA)
* Ensure compliance with product-related regulation, including but
not limited to: Ingredients, labeling, claims, product registration,
packaging & import/export challenges
* Contribute to building Petcare SRA strategy through close
collaboration with SRA associates in the different divisions of MPC.
* Contribute to Petcare SRA LT calls and F2F meetings, leading
specific activities in support of Global SRA for Pet (Regulatory &
Scientific Horizon Scanning…)
* Drive Mars SRA Standards Deployment and reporting
* Influence regulatory environment
* Develop and engage the global community of practice
* Mentors and provides leadership to associates across the globe to
enable them to effectively manage regulatory compliance and advocacy
efforts

JOB SPECIFICATIONS/QUALIFICATIONS
* Min 15 years of related Regulatory/Public Affairs experience gained
in a multinational company and/or industry association; preferably
related to the pharmaceutical, feed, food or beverage industry
* BS, M.S. or equivalent in a technical area, such as food and/or
feed science, veterinary medicine, food safety, chemistry, toxicology,
nutrition, or other biological science.
* Experience in leading high-performance teams
* Highly skilled at anticipating, identifying, and addressing
emerging issues and related risks that could impact Royal Canin’s
business
* Proven track-record in driving regulatory planning and compliance
* Strong understanding of international trade
* Demonstrated ability to manage change, operate with ease in a
dynamic environment and in navigating ambiguity to drive decisions
* Previous experiences in Pet food category is preferred
