JOB DESCRIPTION:
Bank of America Merrill Lynch offers a broad range of products and
services across corporate banking, corporate finance and advisory,
capital markets, debt and equity sales and trading.
Supporting our Global Markets Sales & Trading teams in Europe, this
position will be based in Paris and will sit within the Business
Controls Function –a key partner for the line of business heads and
the front office
Our sales and trading professionals within Global Markets are at the
centre of the world's financial markets, providing liquidity,
industry-leading insights and analytics, competitive pricing and added
value across the spectrum of debt and equity markets. The Supervisory
and Control Function is an in-business group providing a range of
advisory and execution services for the Global Markets businesses,
including analysis and performance of key supervision and control
tasks.
There is an opportunity within the FICC Business Controls team for a
French speaker to be based within our new Paris office. They will be
primarily responsible for supporting supervisors in the EU FICC
businesses as well as the wider EMEA Business Controls organization,
including driving strategic and tactical change projects to improve
the supervisory environment. The ideal candidate should be a
self-starter, who is comfortable taking the initiative with often
limited information. The FICC Business Control team is split across
London and Paris.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The role will be responsible for undertaking and supporting business
controls activity in the FICC business in Europe, based in Paris.
Responsibilities will include:
* Supporting the management of the FICC business in the strategic
understanding and practical mitigation of their control risks and the
evolution of the business’ risk culture
* Support for FICC products and local regulatory and governance
projects
* Supporting BAU responsibilities within Business Controls
* Undertaking programme-wide initiatives to enhance the control
framework, such as identification and resolution of Audit Issues,
including the managing and implementation of Action Items
* Understanding and implementing the front office supervision and
control arrangements using the firm’s tools (including who is
supervising whom, at what activities, how and how well)
* Performing and documenting any relevant follow up assessments in
consultation with the supervisors
* Ensuring the supervisors are constantly aware of any issues – and
are aware of their ongoing responsibilities to supervise
* Working with Enterprise Control Functions (Operations, Legal and
Compliance, Finance, Risk, IT, HR, Audit) to ensure end-to-end
processes for all client and trade activity are controlled
* Working with Enterprise Control functions to improve the quality of
the supervisory reports
* Performing deep-dives into producer activities and the economics
and risks of products to identify control weaknesses or gaps in
processes and activities and remediating weaknesses
* Working across the region with the Business Control and COO teams
in each country where there is FICC activity to ensure that the
supervisory control framework for the business is common and effective
in each location and responding to local issues
Essential skills/experience:
* Fluent in French and English (professional level)
* Very high attention to detail, able to present information to
senior audiences confident in the accuracy of their underlying data.

* Have exceptional communication/relationship skills
