Job Description: Do you have a general systems related background (e.g. design office, laboratory, MAP, in-service support, training, etc)? Are you motivated to grow your systems, cockpit and airline operational knowledge in a diverse and collaborative environment? Join the Flight Management System (FMS) design office team as a “Future FMS Designer”: we have R&T projects to pave the way for autonomy and next aircraft generation! This role is key, even more today in the current context to prepare the future of aircrafts operations. You will join the FMS design office that is responsible for the Flight Management and Airport Navigation systems transverse design, technologies & services on all Airbus aircraft of today and future FMS. _ Tasks_ The Future Flight Management System Designer contributes to the definition and deployment of the vision for the Future of the FMS. It covers future aircraft but also derivative or incremental aircrafts. It liaises with multiple R&T, MPP projects as: * Disruptive Cockpit project (DisCo), related to Single Pilot Operations * DragonFly, new Airbus UpNext large scale Demonstrator to prepare the future of Single Pilot Operations * iSPOT defining the architecture of New Single Aisle * SESAR (Single European Sky ATM Research) project It liaises also with nFMS project for new avionics and connectivity functions. As a “future FMS Designer” you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks that cover the full product lifecycle including specification, development, modification. These tasks can include:. * Liaising with our internal and external stakeholders and pacting in an agile environment. * Supporting design process improvements and new ways of working, with Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) deployment * Specifying new Flight Management architecture, functions & incremental improvements, * Working with flight test & training teams to ensure operational aspects are fully covered. * Specifying and managing projects, development activities, Verification & Validation activities (including laboratory, ground & flight test). * coordinating Airbus India simulated FMS team * Managing the associated partners and sub-contractors. You will therefore have a large and rewarding number of interfaces including major multi-national suppliers, other aircraft system teams, laboratory and flight test teams, safety, certification, airworthiness, academics, etc. This requires your ability to work and prioritise as part of large transnational teams with flexibility; your technical rigour and skills, ability to persuade & influence. You will be in the innovative, challenging, visible and multicultural heart of the Airbus systems design office in Toulouse. This offers great opportunities for you to apply your creativity and team spirit; to develop your technical, project management & customer interface skills and career within Airbus, and to contribute to team wellbeing. _ Required Skills_ You will need: * Your curiosity and appetite for architecture, complex function and system development. * Your ability to learn continuously, your autonomy, your sense of prioritization and ability to take a step back and drive the bigger picture. * Your ability to work with proactivity, flexibility as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team. * Excellent communication, persuasion & influencing skills, decision making ability, and a pro-active approach to problem solving. * A willingness to learn and openness to change, new methodologies & technologies * An aeronautical/ systems/ avionics engineering degree (or equivalent), and ideally experience in one or more of the following areas: * Flight Management / guidance & control design and support * Systems software / hardware specification and development * Flight Physics * Big Data & Digitalization * Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) * Data security * The ability to speak & work in English is required. * The willingness to occasionally travel both nationally & internationally. In addition: * Knowledge of airline flight operations or systems testing would be a valuable asset. * A working knowledge of French is desirable.
