THE TEAM YOU'LL BE PART OF Nokia Bell Labs is the world-renowned research arm of Nokia, having invented many of the foundational technologies that underpin information and communications networks and all digital devices and systems. This research has produced nine Nobel Prizes, five Turing Awards and numerous other awards. This internship will take place in the premises of Bell Labs in France in Nozay (Essonne) within the "Enterprise Networks" department. This department is dedicated to research activities to prepare the future networks that will connect people and objects. These networks must provide communication services tailored to each need. In addition, the telecom industry has entered a period like a revolution for this sector by adopting the technological solutions promoted today by the field of IT. Indeed, some of the equipment dedicated to the telecom world is converted into software code running on hardware under conventional IT architecture (X86 server ...) also relying on paradigms related to virtualization. WHAT YOU WILL LEARN AND CONTRIBUTE TO The Software-Defined Network (SDN) principle makes network elements programmable. Among other advantages, this programmability offers opportuniy to invent new kind of services. The purpose of this internship is to assist Nokia Bell Labs researchers in the design and the implementation choices for the deployment and integration of innovative Nokia Bell-Labs connectivity services based on SDN solution in a proof-of-concept system where adding/removing new services on future Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) would be as easy as deploying on new service in a cloud/IT environment through the integration of virtualization feature. Are you passionate about solving problems? As part of our team, you will: * Contribute to a state of the art survey that is required for this study; * Collaborate to the proposition of an SDN software integration solution in the context of virtualization; * Assist in the implementation of a first prototype of the proposed solution on a targeted platform * According to the progress during the internship, evaluate the performance of the system. YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Master degree telecom or university engineering school student With a good general knowledge of networks.
