JOIN OUR LEGAL TEAM IN NEXANS TO ELECTRIFY THE FUTURE
The Submarine & Land Systems Business Group of Nexans (SLS) is a
global player in engineering, manufacturing and installing land &
submarine cable solutions to customers all over the world. SLS is key
in the transition to more renewable energy, whether connecting
countries, islands to the mainland or bringing green energy from
offshore wind farms to the grid, and has manufacturing plants in
Norway, USA, Japan, France and Belgium.
DO YOU WANT TO BE PART OF ELECTRIFYING THE FUTURE?
Do you want to be our next Senior Legal Counsel and be a part of our
SLS Legal & Contracts Affairs Department? We are looking for an
experienced, business-minded, and self-motivated Legal Counsel to join
our team and to provide legal assistance and support to a broad range
of internal clients. Based in Paris La Défense and reporting to the
Legal Director of SLS, you will provide legal advice and assistance to
the multidisciplinary teams of SLS in charge of the prospection,
development, construction and maintenance of power cable systems for
Interconnectors and offshore Wind projects.
You will have the opportunity to work across the entire SLS Business
Group and provide guidance that will have a meaningful operational
impact on the company. We value initiative and taking ownership of
tasks.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Support SLS Sales & Tendering team by writing, reviewing,
commenting and negotiating a wide range of contracts (letters of
intent; “MOU”; preferred supplier agreements; partnership
agreements; EPCI contracts, O&M agreements). You will also draft and
negotiate appropriate consortium, subcontracts and JV Agreements, and
prepare the legal documentation for the response to these calls for
tenders,
* Ensure contract terms and conditions are consistent with internal
policies and goals,
* Once awarded, support the Contract Management function and SLS
Project Execution teams by giving legal advice on all necessary
matters related to the execution of the contracts, including but
limited to warranties, financial securities, claims and litigations,
* Support in the incorporation and establishments of project
companies and affiliates,
* Follow the disputes & litigation associated with the portfolio of
projects,
* Support the SLS Purchasing Department for the establishment and
negotiation of complex subcontracts and strategic procurements,
* Support the SLS R&D activity by drafting and negotiating
collaboration / development agreements,
* Promote best practice and contractual and legal culture, advise
internal clients from every team on relevant legal issues and risks,
agreement structures, approval processes, company policies and
procedures,
* Create and update agreement templates and policies,
* Implementation and monitoring of the Compliance policies of the
Group (anti-bribery, conflict of interest, ethic, competition,
anti-trust, GDPR, …) in collaboration with the Group Compliance
Officer,
* Perform regular trainings internally on compliance & risk
management,
* Coordinate and supervise the work of the external law firms if and
when necessary.
REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:
* Postgraduate degree in business law with ideally a double
qualification (Civil and Common Law or at least a good Common Law
knowledge),
* Minimum 6 to 10 years’ experience in a law firm and/or as
Inhouse with strong knowledge of industrial / infrastructure /
renewable projects,
* Experience in cross boarder project management desirable, and
comfortable working within a multicultural environment.
* experience in negotiating and drafting a wide variety of
commercial contracts, including O&M contracts and complex turnkey EPCI
projects in an international environment. Familiar with the major
construction contract forms including FIDIC, NEC, LOGIC, ORGALIM,…
* Sound business judgment with the ability to balance legal and
business priorities, break down complex legal problems, and articulate
risks to partners in the business,
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment,
ability to adapt to changing priorities,
* Customer orientation with excellent collaboration skills,
* Willingness to take on tasks both big and small,
* Pragmatic thinker, and ability to give succinct legal advice,
excellent at building strong relationships,
* Ability to travel occasionally for business (negotiations, claim
resolution),
* Excellent communication skills in English and French (working
languages).
