Technical Director, Campus Services Full Time - Permanent - Based in Fontainebleau, France REFERENCE: HR6 As one of the world’s leading and largest graduate business schools, INSEAD brings together people, cultures and ideas to change lives and to transform organisations. INSEAD is currently looking to hire a Technical Director within our Campus Services Department . This is a permanent and full-time position that will be based at our Europe Campus in Fontainebleau, France . This is a newly-created position that will become critical to the school for the future management of INSEAD’s Fontainebleau campus and buildings. This role will ultimately have complete ownership over the technical and physical needs of INSEAD’s presence in Fontainebleau both currently on a day-to-day operational basis and strategically into the future. The Technical Director will act in a senior position within the Campus Services Department which manages all aspects of the INSEAD facilities. INSEAD wishes the technical side of Campus Services to enter a new era of automated technical management. There will be several core areas which must form the pillars of the Technical Director’s strategy. First is the need to help INSEAD progress in the field of sustainability and energy management. INSEAD has pledged to reduce its energy use and reduce its carbon emissions in line; the Technical Director will create the roadmap on how to attain these results. Secondly, the Fontainebleau campus will enter a period of redevelopment, and the redevelopment project will come under the Technical Director’s responsibilities who must manage and limit risks on campus and make sure the school is compliant with all government regulations. RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE: Managing the Campus Services technical team (2 people, plus a team of 10-12 outsourced maintenance staff managed via our vendor) and assume overall responsibility of the maintenance of INSEAD infrastructure and equipment. We are looking at adopting industry-wide best practices in risk management, building insurance and modernization. Overseeing all areas of health and safety compliance across the Fontainebleau campus. This will include current installations, as well as future sustainable initiatives like reducing our energy consumption and carbon emissions. Managing relationships and agreements with outsourced contractors and external vendors. The Technical Director will be responsible for all contracts related to the technical area of the Fontainebleau campus. Planning the technical budget and delivering annual budgets against the technical needs of the school. This will require close communication and partnership with the school’s Executive Committee and compliance to technical and regulatory constraints. Solving day-to-day issues and small projects that are still vital to the operation of the school (general maintenance, repairs, upgrade of carpets, toilets, etc). Contributing to the major renovation and extension project planned for the Fontainebleau campus. The Technical Director will be a key player in the renovation project in identifying technical needs as well as taking responsibility for integrating the old infrastructure with the new buildings and the parallel sustainability initiatives. TO SUCCEED IN THE ROLE YOU WILL NEED: Bachelors degree or equivalent education within Civil Engineering or a related major. At least 10 years experience managing multi-purpose sites and/or facilities. High level of knowledge related to building infrastructure, facilities management and technical maintenance. A passion for sustainability issues and how they can be incorporated into daily operational policy. A knowledge of French regulatory requirements. Excellent communication ability in both English and French; able to communicate the INSEAD technical strategy to senior stakeholders within the Executive Committee but also able to communicate at a hands-on level with local contractors and vendors.
