Job Description: Do you have a complex avionics system development and/or Validation & Verification background? Are you motivated to grow your systems, cockpit and airline operational knowledge? Do you feel like being at the heart of the action, to discover AIRBUS Flight Management Systems from the inside? => Join the Flight Management System (FMS) design office team as a “FMS Validation & Verification Engineer” (VVE): we are in the process of launching a new large multi-program FMS product line development so we need you…now! You will join the FMS design office group (IYAXO) that is responsible for the development and in-service support of the Flight Management and Airport Navigation systems on all Airbus Single Aisle, Long Range, A380, A350, A400M and A330MRTT aircraft. Tasks & accountabilities As a “FMS Validation & Verification Engineer” you will support the project V&V Responsible (VVR) and Work Package Leader (WPL) for a wide range of tasks that cover the Validation & Verification of a FMS development over the full product lifecycle. These tasks include: * Specifying, managing and driving all related Validation & Verification activities over the full development lifecycle, within a large project team, these include: * Establishing the V&V strategy & plan with all stakeholders * Requirement validation * Laboratory & flight testing * Anomaly identification, management & closure * Delivering the V&V summary * Attending regular simulator test sessions. * Ensuring that FMS Validation & Verification is fully integrated with the activities of our internal customers and stakeholders, FMS designers and suppliers. * Supporting all related safety & certification activities * Managing the associated suppliers and subcontractors * Close coordination with the project V&V Responsible and Work Package Leader * Contributing to future in-service support of new developments The final mix of the above tasks will be tailored based on your competencies, aspirations, and of course on our project needs. You will therefore have a large and rewarding number of interfaces including major multi-national suppliers, other aircraft system teams, laboratory and flight test teams, civil and military aircraft programs, safety, certification, airworthiness, etc. This requires your ability to work and prioritise to strict timescales as part of large transnational teams with flexibility; your technical rigour, ability to persuade & influence, and your good project management capabilities. You will be in the innovative, challenging, visible and multicultural heart of the Airbus systems design office in Toulouse. Skills You will need: * Your complex systems development and/or Validation & Verification background, preferably including FMS experience. * Your curiosity and appetite for complex function and system development. * Your ability to learn continuously, your autonomy, your sense of prioritization and ability to take a step back and drive the bigger picture. * Your ability to work with proactivity, flexibility and assertiveness to strict timescales as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team. * Excellent concise communication, persuasion & influencing skills, decision making ability, and a proactive approach to problem solving. * A willingness to learn and openness to change, new methodologies & technologies * An aeronautical/ systems/ avionics engineering degree (or equivalent), and ideally experience in one or more of the following areas: * Flight Management / guidance & control design and support * Systems software / hardware specification and development * Flight Physics * Big Data & Digitalization * The ability to speak & work in English. * The willingness to occasionally travel both nationally & internationally. In addition: * Knowledge of airline flight operations or an experience in systems customer support or systems testing would be a valuable asset. * A working knowledge of French is desirable.
